SACRED MANTRA (JAPA)
A mantra is a sacred utterance composed of syllables and words. When repeated, the sound vibrations (Japa) of a mantra help the mind reach a near-empty state, calming the nervous system and relieving stress and anxiety.
Ancient Sanskrit chants uplift consciousness because, at a deeper level, our consciousness inherently recognizes these sound vibrations. In our Mantra Meditation class on Sunday evening, we will learn simple chants, focusing on correct pronunciation, tone, and rhythm. Then, we will chant together as a group, followed by a few minutes of silent meditation to absorb the sacred vibrations.
