New Moon Yoga Nidra

May 5th, 2024 New Moon Yoga Nidra theme - Enter the Dream Lodge

There are 4 states of consciousness: waking, dreaming, deep sleep, and Turiya (which pervades the others). Yoga Nidra moves us to a place of awareness. The more we practice this, the greater our awareness in other states, including dreaming. We can remain aware in our dreams and also be able to recall our dreams. In this workshop:

  • Explore the 4 states of consciousness and how to bring awareness to the transitions

  • Implement rituals for the Dream World (incl. pre-sleep rituals, journaling, dream talisman)

  • Ask a question before sleeping and see how the dream world creatively reveals the answer

  • Enjoy a Yoga Nidra practice to increase awareness in the dream
    state

  • Amplify your dreams with a tea (reishi and mugwort)

About New Moon Yoga Nidra

Nighttime is a time to turn towards stillness. In this stillness, we are closest to our truest essence. Add to this the powerful New Moon, which is void of light in the night sky. Out of this void and emptiness, all is birthed into Life. This is a great time to plant seeds of intentions at the start of a new lunar cycle.

We begin the session with a ritual to cleanse our space and honour the directions and elements. This practice is seen in many spiritual traditions.

We then move into a space of meditative self-inquiry (related to the New Moon in Pisces and regarding Sleep), revealing our seeds of intentions for the month.

As we rest in a Restorative yoga pose, we are guided into Yoga Nidra. I share practices passed down through my teachers (from the Sri Vidya lineage – Himalayan Institute). We offer our intentions to the Goddess.

Yoga Nidra (commonly referred to as yogic sleep) is an ancient Tantric Yoga practice that helps reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia. In ancient texts, Yoga Nidra is a Goddess.

In this session, I guide you to a place of relaxation where the thoughts begin to slow down. You’ll move into a deep state of stillness (moving through the koshas), where you are unconditionally supported and awaken a connection to the infinite or Source.

SHANINE DENNILL

After being touched by the death of a family member at a young age, Shanine questioned the meaning of life and death. This led her to study healing and spirituality with masterful teachers. Through her studies and life experiences, she intuitively guides her students to access an inner wisdom that propels them to live to their greatest potential.

Shanine was introduced to yoga while studying massage therapy in 1999 (in South Africa). It wasn't until she came to Canada in 2001 that she fell deeply in love with it. She completed her first 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2008. She then completed another 200-hour yoga training (with an alignment focus), a Meditation teacher training program, and her 300-hour yoga teacher training. She owned a yoga studio for 10 years and is grateful to continue to share yoga with so many students, especially at Inye Yoga.

Shanine is an E-RYT 500 teacher with Yoga Alliance. She also teaches Yoga Nidra and Meditation and is completing her trainings in Reiki and Folk Herbalism. Her yoga practices are heavily influenced by Tantra Yoga (from the Sri Vidya lineage). This includes intelligent sequencing of poses to feel more embodied, focusing on the breath and meditation to stabilize the mind and manage energy to realize the true Self.
